As A Professor
Biomedical Engineering
I joined Bucknell because I wanted to explore what biomedical engineering might look like in the context of the liberal arts. I have enjoyed every moment of being part of the growth of a special department.

1st direct hire (to complement the founding chair) in a new program as an assistant professor

Responsible for creating and teaching the instrumentation and design courses for a new curriculum. Played significant roles in the design and execute of other courses in the curriculum

Served on all departmental faculty hiring, retention, and tenure committees

Chaired hiring committees for an academic assistant and a lab director

Department ranked four times in a row as #1 non-PhD granting BME program by US News and World Report

Lead role in a 5-year rewrite of departmental tenure, promotion and retention policies

Lead on designing ~3000 square feet of instructional space in a new building to support courses and labs in bioinstrumentation, biomedical device design and bioelectricity

Created and have taught 18 curriculuar and co-curricular courses at Bucknell

Faculty instructor for 26 senior capstone teams and faculty advisor 6 senior capstone teams

Played significant roles in twice gaining ABET accreditation

Advised five graduating Biomedical Engineering cohorts, most for all four years

Advised 41 research and design students in the Colleges of Engineering, Management and Arts and Science. All but 4 I have worked with have published in a journal or presented at a conference

Featured speaker at Bucknell WE DO Campaign events in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Naples, FL, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta.
