Senior Capstone Design
The senior capstone in Bucknell's Biomedical Engineering degree is a two part design experience. All student teams must identify a project in collaboration with a Geisinger Medical Center Health Care professional, typically a surgeon. Their clinical mentor then works with them throughout the year as the design of a new medical product takes shape. They are responsible for more than simply the technical progress (e.g. FDA approval process, reimbursement, standards, marketing, economics etc.), and a number of products have been carried forward through patents and further technical and business development.
